In terms of views and settings, it’s very hard to beat this exceptionally stylish bar.
We bring all our visitors over for the happy hour deal, but it also serves an excellent selection of grills and tapas-style plates.
The staff are extremely attentive, and we’re immediately offered blankets to help protect us against the cool winds coming off the Gulf.
After demolishing the excellent baked goods in the bread basket, we start off with the berenjena con miel de caña (fried aubergine tempura marinated in honey), fried calamari and patatas bravas.
The aubergine is an unusual but very moreish mix of sweet and salty. It’s probably the most unhealthy way of cooking vegetables imaginable, and we completely approve. Meanwhile, the spicy potatoes are totally amazing, and
the small, bite-sized pieces of shellfish come with a pleasant garlic dip.
The main event is the paella, which features large pieces of fresh cod and salmon, juicy prawns, chunks of chicken and crunchy vegetables. Squeezing a big wedge of lemon over the fragrant rice makes it even better still, and it’s one of the best takes on the classic Spanish dish that we’ve ever tasted.
Despite the large portions, we can’t resist the crema catalana, and the creamy, custard-based dessert is absolutely beautiful.
We leave feeling even more in love with this classy bar than we were before.
