Aquarium

A seafood restaurant in a great spot at Yas Marina

Aquarium
Aquarium

The good news is you can now fully enjoy the terrace at Aquarium. Overlooking Yas Marina, the space is lovely and the views are excellent.

On our latest visit we’re eating inside, as the last of the summer heat is still lingering. The experience indoors, it has to be said, is not a patch on the alfresco one. It’s quiet and it looks like the whole place could do with a freshen up. However, we’d prefer it if the cleaning didn’t take place around us as we eat.

We’re here on a Saturday lunchtime, so perhaps shouldn’t excpect the throngs of a Thursday night, but still, it’s a little off-putting.

It’s a shame the vibe is spoiled by the lack of people and the staff busying themselves with menial tasks, as the food is pretty good and our server is excellent.

The menu covers a lot of ground, with everything from Italian dishes to Asian (particularly Japanese) available, as well as a fresh fish counter. Basically, as long as there’s seafood in it, it’s on the menu.

We start buy sharing some tuna tartare. The chunks of fish are rich and have a good amount of bite, which is complemented nicely by the smooth avocado it sits on. There’s a punchy dressing that makes it all zing.

The tom yum soup is let down by too much salt and chilli sauce, but seared salmon is excellent. Crisp skin, just-cooked flesh and creamy mash alongside asparagus and broccoli and a lemon butter sauce. Perfect.

Sit outside, order the salmon and you’ll be just fine.
