Hakkasan

This high-end global Chinese is still going strong in a super-fancy location

A multiple Time Out award-winner, Hakkasan is a globally renowned chain for good reason – it delivers on quality, taste and experience every time.

It can be a pricey night out, that’s for sure, with the Peking duck with royal beluga caviar coming in at almost Dhs2,000. However, we’re not suggesting you should order that (although if you’re feeling extra, why not?).

The dishes are uniformly superb, so there’s no need to go for the most expensive ones. There are plenty of smaller plates and salads on the menu for less than Dhs100.

The menu reads as one might in a traditional restaurant in Guangzhou, but the way the food looks and the quality of ingredients used are only found in the most high-end of venues.

The swanky setting of Emirates Palace is the perfect place for the venue. As you navigate the gold-strewn corridors there is no mistaking that this is a classy way to enjoy Chinese food. Everything about the restaurant feels exclusive, from the dim lighting to the attentive staff.

To start, try the stir-fried mixed nut lettuce wrap – crunchy, sticky and umami-heavy – and the roasted mango duck. They’re as unusual as they are tasty. For mains, check out the senpei chicken claypot. It’s robust and full of flavour. A light vanilla crème brûlée with tart quenelles of apple sorbet is the perfect refreshing dessert.

If you want a bit of everything there is a popular night brunch, but be sure to reserve if you want to secure a spot, especially outside of the secluded terrace.

No matter when you go, and regardless of what you order, you will likely leave Hakkasan quite happy.
