When this place was Relax@12 it was firmly a bar, but since the renovation and re-opening as Brick Rooftop Kitchen & Bar, the focus is mainly on the food side of things.
As you can see from the main picture to the right, there is a small bar area should you want to sit there, but the best seats (and views) are elsewhere in the rooftop venue.
This is the type of place you can pull up a seat at a table and just order drinks, while it’s now a restaurant, there’s no real pressure to eat here (though a pizza from the brick ovens that give the venue its name is recommended).
Anyone familar with the old Relax@12 (which lives on indoors) will recognise the layout, but the décor has had a brilliant makeover, with plenty of greenery, light tones and cool tiles replacing the previous dark fixtures and fittings. The views are still impressive, looking out over the Embassies District and beyond.
When it comes to drinks, there’s a decent selection of grape (with small glasses starting at around Dhs38), a handful of mixed drinks, some premium and house short measures and an impressive, if short, list of bottles of craft hops alongside the usual selection. The draught hops options could do with being bulked up a little, with only three to choose from.
Service is fine, if not the most intuitive we’ve come across, but there are certianly no complaints.
We have an enjoyable hour or so here, gazing over the city and chatting over a few drinks.
