Given that it’s always very easy to find a great drink deal in Abu Dhabi, sometimes we don’t mind paying for a refreshing beverage that costs a little bit more than average. So, we’re not really too disappointed to learn that there’s no happy hour on when we visit Tokyo Grill.
This up-market Japanese restaurant and bar has managed to bag a spot at the very much sought-after location of the Venetian Village, and with views over the pretty Grand Canal, it’s a setting which is really very hard to beat (even in a city as totally brilliant as Abu Dhabi).
It’s a place where we’d normally choose to sit outside; either lounging in one of the comfortable leather chairs near the bar area or at one of the tables on the terrace overlooking the water. But unfortunately we’re visiting on one of the few nights of the year when it’s a bit too chilly to be sitting outside. So instead we place ourselves indoors, where we’re better placed to take in the hanging paper lanterns, suits of ancient armour and the other decorative features that all go towards creating a very cool and stylish interior.
Our first impression is that this must have one of the finest collections of Japanese beverages in the capital, with the most expensive bottles going for almost Dhs1,000.
We also like the sound of the Wednesday Japanese Mixes Night (a selection of signature drinks are available daily too).
If you like your drinks to be Insta-friendly, we highly recommend checking out these colourful concoctions.
The snacks are high-calibre as well, with sushi, tempura, edamame and more all available.
It’s a quiet spot, but for a relaxing post-work tipple, it’s absolutely ideal.
