Massive metal trees. If there’s one thing that pops into our minds whenever anyone mentions going to Glo, it’s those trees. They are pretty striking, after all.
But, beyond that, there’s not much you can say to someone when describing the venue. It’s poolside, has some nice views over towards Al Zahiya and it has massive metal trees.
That’s not to say we don’t like this place, in fact we’ve been known to frequent the ladies’ nights and post-brunch sundowners on many an occasion, it just doesn’t do anything exceptional.
On our latest visit we’re happy to have a couple of drinks at the bar itself, which is the perfect place for a refresher if you’re staying in the hotel on holiday.
There are also some high tables dotted around, and the chance to sit at more lounge-y seating areas.
Drinks are towards the higher end of the price bracket, with some nice mixed drinks available as well as bottled hops, grape and sparkling.
There are some offers throughout the week, however, with a ladies’ night every Tuesday offering four free glasses of grape between 6pm and 9pm, a teachers’ night giving 20 percent off between 7pm and 2am every Thursday and a hospitality night on Mondays with a 50 percent discount available for anyone in the industry.
You can expect a DJ every Friday and Saturday, where the name of the game is to chill out. The beats perfectly match the overall atmosphere of the venue.
While we’ve never been blown away by the drinks or the service, it’s fair to say the ambience probably makes up for those, and if you’re looking for a place with a view to bring guests or just want somewhere to relax before a meal nearby, we can definitely recommend Glo. Just remember to get some pics of those trees.
