We’ve always struggled to pigeonhole Left Bank. Is it a bar? Part club? A place for a quick bite to eat? Or is it just a mix of all three? Maybe we shouldn’t be trying to. We went there on a Friday afternoon to try and get a better sense of what this place is all about.
As we immediately walk in we see the DJ booth and a few people up and dancing. Left Bank is a popular post-brunch spot and we can see why. The music is energetic and the balcony area outside is buzzing.
There are some large booths which are great for groups of friends, as well as some smaller tables, and the bar stools for couples and smaller groups.
The music changes progressively over the next hour or so, with modern crowd pleasers and a few old-school tracks to get you singing along during the night.
We take a walk outside onto the balcony area to soak up the Grand Canal view. It’s a bit chilly this time of the day (and year) but come February it will be hard to leave the views if you’re planning to carry on your night somewhere else.
Left Bank is a place to have some great pre-drinks before leaving to a club in a lively, yet not overly hectic, atmosphere.
The bottom line
Left Bank has the half club, half bar vibe down to a tee.
