Even after our many visits, the amount of gold at Emirates Palace still somehow manages to leave us open-mouthed.
This is a hotel that is in no way subtle or understated, and that’s why we love it. After all, it has a reputation to maintain as being the most flashy property in the capital.
We take a while navigating our way through the mix of tourists and guests in the huge gold-domed lobby, and eventually make it out to the peace of the private beach where Breeze Lounge is found.
On our visit, the night is beautifully warm, and we are indeed close enough to the sea to feel the gentle breeze coming in off the water.
It’s an incredibly beautiful setting – we have the glittering outline of Etihad Towers and the Corniche skyscrapers behind us, and in front of us lies the white sands of the beach. We’re surrounded by palm trees and the illuminated exterior of the hotel looks totally stunning.
There can’t be many settings that feel more special than this anywhere in Abu Dhabi.
A server directs us to a table that has an excellent view of the beach (although there are no bad spots here, really) and the top service continues throughout our time here.
Given the holiday-vibe of the setting we order a few mixed drinks (unsurprisingly, given the setting, they’re not the cheapest), and we feel totally relaxed as we nurse them and take in the gorgeous scene around us.
