You’ll get fined Dhs1,000 if you don’t stop for school buses

Avoid a fine and black pointsby following the rules of the road

Being a driver is a big responsibility.

You need to be aware of your actions to protect your own safety, your passengers and all other road users, too.

In Abu Dhabi, like all cities, there are a number or rules of the road that you must observe to ensure the safety of other drivers and to avoid being fined.

Failing to stop and give way to school buses when they display the stop sign is an offence that will result in a Dhs1,000 fine and 10 black points in this emirate.

Abu Dhabi Police have reminded road users to follow the rules and help make it safer for schoolchildren being dropped off and collected from school.

Drivers are also required to stop their vehicle five metres behind the schoolbus to allow children to exit and board the vehicle safely.

In the past year 3,664 motorists have been fined for failing to stop when a schoolbus is displaying the stop sign.

Abu Dhabi Police also recently announced that fines of Dhs3,000 will be given to drivers who block emergency services in Abu Dhabi.
