The garden features ghaf, sidr, palm and acacia trees

Looking for a (not so) secret garden in Dubai? The Museum of the Future garden is opening soon with over 100 species of trees and plants to see.

If you’ve ever zipped past The Museum of the Future’s shiny façade while driving on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, you might’ve noticed the green plateau that the new museum rests on. On closer inspection, you’ll find that the green space is actually a lush garden featuring ghaf, sidr, palm and acacia trees.

The Museum of the Future garden represents the UAE’s diverse ecosystem and is equipped with eco-friendly technology to support it. A smart irrigation system and supports local bee and bird populations, and the landscaping was meticulously planned and planted to host resilient native plant species that can adapt to the desert climate. Water collection and recycling systems are also used to reduce water wastage and the steep slopes allow quick water run-off.

Vegetation includes bushy-leaved plants that normally grow naturally in the coastal areas of the Middle East and trees that were chosen to represent the UAE’s past, present and future.
