To visit this bar and not post a least one bragging photo on social media must take an impressive amount of restraint.
Or more than we have anyway.
If you head there for an afternoon sundowner, as soon as you walk out onto the long wooden terrace, you’ll immediately know you’ve made the right decision.
The area is filled with smart sofas, while one side is bordered by a cool water feature that looks like a giant waterfall.
But while the venue is very pretty, the best views are right in front of you, over the waters of the Grand Canal and towards the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque on the opposite banks.
On our visit, it’s a relatively quiet midweek night, so we have plenty of choice when it comes to where to sit. Pretty much every seat has a good view, however.
The menu features a wide selection of Scottish premium beverages and other short drinks. As this pretty outdoor area is such a prime spot for a sundowner, there’s a long list of classic and signature mixed drinks, too.
On this visit, we eschew the mixed drinks ans go instead for a glass of grape and a juniper-based beverage and mixer.
There’s no happy hour deal, which is unusual, so the drinks aren’t too affordable. However, to relax for an hour or so with good drinks in such a beautiful setting we’re happy to pay the premium prices. There’s also complimentary popcorn and nuts took keep you snacking (they never last long with us).
The music is soulful and jazzy, the vibes are chilled and friendly and the service is good.
For a swanky post-work drink, or late-night session, Chameleon Lounge is a good option.
