As you might well guess from the grand title, if you’re after a loud and lively weekend blow-out with a gang of pals then Couture Lounge won’t be your cup of tea.
In fact, it’s gleaming glasses of bubbly that are the toast of this swanky spot in the heart of the Marriott Hotel Al Forsan.
Much like the hotel itself (which only opened this year), the swish venue feels vibrant, very polished and completely new.
First impressions count for a lot in a city where competition for custom is high and your gaze is grabbed instantly by the sleek bar lit up in purple. The venue as a whole is buzzing and bright and provides an ideal setting for a sophisticated evening out.
Where Couture Lounge sets itself apart is in its dimly-lit lounge, set away from the more high-energy bar area, where guests can settle down on comfortable sofas and chill out to relaxing music and chat among themselves without having to make themselves heard over a blaring soundtrack.
Don’t expect cheap and cheerful here. This is a night spot with a touch of class running right through it (which might translate to your drinks bill depending on how extravagant you are).
The extensive beverage menu catches the eye. The high-end bubbly will set you back Dhs120 a glass or up to Dhs1,800 for a bottle if you are feeling in a particularly celebratory mood.
But if you don’t fancy splashing out that much, glasses of grape and mixed drinks are reasonably priced, as are bottles of hops if you are so inclined. Couture Lounge might be a nightlife newcomer but with its laid-back ambience, it looks made to measure for success.
