We’re not short of super-cool bars here in the capital. But few have a location better than that of Pacifico Tiki at Al Bandar Marina.
Jutting out over the water in a wooden, almost boat-like structure, it offers spectacular views whether you arrive before or after sunset.
During the day the colour of the water is so blue it almost looks surreal, whereas by night the reflections of the twinkling lights of Yas Island add to the allure of this picturesque setting.
The wooden terrace is filled with comfy sofas, and now that the temperature has dropped, we think there are few better spots to gather for a catch-up with friends.
Walking onto the decking, it feels like we’ve been transported to a tropical island. The Tiki-style interior is completed by wooden artefacts and a bright and airy dining area.
Although we arrive after dark, it still seems like the kind of setting where it’s compulsory to consume fruity mixed drinks.
Ours are expertly concocted with mint and lime juice, but others are adorned with fruits and flowers and served in quirky cups shaped liked coconuts and other exotic objects. There’s also a wide array of hops, premium beverages and soft drinks.
Everything in this waterfront hangout, from the tapas-style plates to the beverages, is superb Instagram material. We’re already planning which filter to use as we order our drinks.
Dancing is always encouraged at this eternally summery bar.
A Latin band gets the crowd moving at the Thursday night brunch, which features unlimited bites and house beverages for Dhs275, and also at the Friday brunch offering.
Meanwhile, Monday night is ladies’ night. Again there are plenty of funky tunes to get your hips moving, and women can enjoy a platter of nibbles, including piri piri shrimp and chicken skewers, plus unlimited amounts of selected mixed drinks for Dhs65.
There’s no band on the night we visit, but there is a DJ pumping out the hottest tunes. The happy atmosphere is so infectious that it isn’t long before we give in and join the others on the already crowded dancefloor.
Every night feels like a holiday at Pacifico Tiki. Whether you’re looking for a swift sundowner or a long night of dancing, the friendly staff and welcoming crowd ensure you’ll have a blast.
