New Stories of Paper exhibition opening at Louvre Abu Dhabi this week

There are nearly 100 artworks from 16 museums to see

Louvre Abu Dhabi has announced an upcoming international exhibition with nearly 100 artworks from 16 museums and institutions from around the world. Stories of Paper is all about artistic expressions on paper – from manuscripts to drawings to contemporary installations. Ready for some culture?

The exhibition is being presented in partnership with Musée du Louvre and France Muséums. Mark your cards and get ready for a trip to the Louvre, because Stories of Paper will run from Wednesday April 20 to Sunday July 24.

Stories of Paper will feature books, a reproduction of a house and 13 contemporary artworks and installations made of paper. These come mainly from the collections of Musée du Louvre, as well as 15 other leading cultural institutions and private collections.

The exhibition is split into 12 sections that highlight the varied use of paper across centuries. Sections include the plant-based origin, colour, movement, relationship with light, memory and a malleable medium. Visitors will learn about the tools and mechanisms to create paper.

Visitors to the Louvre Abu Dhabi will be able to see Stories of Paper with their general admission tickets. Additionally, culture-vultures can also stop by the Louvre’s Versailles and the World exhibition, which is running until Saturday June 4.

There are other exciting things happening on Saadiyat Island with the recent announcement about the new Louvre Abu Dhabi residences development. There will be housing, leisure and entertainment spaces, and two new hotels coming to the island in 2025.
