Hype dish: 23K gold ice cream at Emirates Palace

This certainly isn’t your average ice cream

Nothing says bougie like eating gold at Emirates Palace. From the shimmering interiors to incredible plates of food at the many fantastic restaurants, this spot screams luxury from the minute you step inside those iconic interiors.

And if it’s gold you’re after, the ice cream at Le Café is just the (golden) ticket. In fact, with the first lick of this scoop you might start to feel like Charlie visiting Mr. Wonka’s factory: beyond lucky.

The waffle cone and ice cream are everything you could ask for when it comes to a cool and refreshing desert, but it’s the 23K gold that tips this dish over the edge.

What was that famous saying? Let them eat gold? Whatever it was, we spoke to chef David Bonet to find out what goes into these special Instagrammable scoops.

Camel milk ice cream
As if this dish couldn’t get any more interesting, the ice cream is made with locally sourced camel milk.

The waffle cone
The perfect sweet crunch to bite into after all that soft camel milk ice cream.

The gold
“Our edible gold is from Italy, the gold must be pure 22 to 24 karat and it is prepared by hammering and pounding the metal sheets again and again to reach millimetres.”

The flavour
You can get vanilla or chocolate camel milk ice cream, both topped with gold bling.

Dhs72. Open daily, 10am-9pm. Emirates Palace, Corniche Road (02 690 7999).
