There’s plenty of new movies to see in UAE cinemas this weekend, from highly anticipated sequels to mega blockbusters.

Amsterdam

Set in the ’30s, Amsterdam follows three friends who witness a murder, become suspects themselves and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history. Starring stellar cast including Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Christian Bale, Rami Malek and Anya Taylor-Joy, this period mystery comedy will sure keep you glued to your seats.

Barbie Mermaid Power

Join Barbie “Brookyln” Roberts, Barbie “Malibu” Roberts, and her sisters Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea on an underwater adventure as they transform into mermaids to help save the world of Pacfica. Big Trip 2: Special Delivery

Looking for a movie to watch in UAE cinemas this week? Starring Christine Gelyean, this animated film follows Mic Mic and Oscar who return from their incredible adventure. But after a diabolical plan by Vulture to sabotage the delivery of the Grizzly cub to his opponent in the American presidential elections, Mic Mic, Oscar, Panda teenager and Stork set off on another adventure to return Grizzly to its rightful parents.

Black Adam

Nearly 5,000 years after he was magically given almighty powers of the Egyptian gods — and imprisoned just as fast — Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world. This American superhero film is based on the DC Comics character of the same name, and stars Viola Davis, Sarah Shahi, Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centineo and Quintessa Swindell. This is one of the most exciting movies to see at UAE cinemas this weekend.

Blackout

A man wakes in a hospital with no memory, and quickly finds himself on the run in a locked down hospital with the Cartel on his tail. He then has to scramble to find his new identity in the most vicious way. This action-packed film stars John Duhamel, Abbie Cornish, Omar Chapparo, Nick Nolte, and sounds like one of the most gripping films to see in UAE cinemas right now.

Bullet Train

If you’re looking for an action-packed film to see in UAE cinemas, get this on your radar. Bullet Train stars Brad Pitt as Ladybug: an unlucky assassin determined to do his job peacefully. Luck, however, may have other plans. Ladybug’s latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe – all with connected, yet conflicting, objectives – on the world’s fastest train. The result is a non-stop thrill ride through Japan. The film is directed by David Leitch and also stars Sandra Bullock, Joey King and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

The film features a list of incredible Hollywood actors, including Olivia Wild, Gemma Chan, Chris Pine, Florence Pugh and even Harry Styles. Halloween Ends

Looking for one of the spookiest movies to watch in UAE cinemas? Halloween Ends follows Laurie, who is living with her granddaughter Allyson, who is finishing writing her memoir. Four years after the events of Halloween Kills, Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since…until now. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, James Jude Courtney, Kyle Richards and Nick Castle, this film will keep you gripped to your seat.

Minions 2: The Rise of Gru

It’s been a while since the whole world went crackers for minions. Which is why Minions 2: The Rise of Gru is bringing them back just in time. The film is releasing to UAE cinemas this weekend and tells the story of young Gru in the 1970s as he tries to join a group of supervillains. The interview doesn’t go to plan and Gru finds himself on the run with the villains hot on his heels. The film is directed by Kyle Balda and stars Steve Carell as Gru.

The Woman King

Watch Viola Davis and Lashana Lynch in this incredible historical epic inspired by true events. The Woman King is the remarkable story of the Agojie, the all-female unit of warriors who protected the African Kingdom of Dahomey in the 1800s with skills and fierceness like anything the world has ever seen. Follow the epic journey of General Nanisca (Davis) as she trains the next generation of recruits and readies them for battle against an energy determined to destroy their way of life. The film also stars John Boyega, Sheila Atim, Thuso Mbedu and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.

You’re in luck because the Hollywood duo star as divorced couple David and Georgia who travel to Bali after learning that their daughter, Lily (Kaitlyn Dever) is planning to marry a local, Gede (Maxime Bouttier), whom she just met. David and Georgia work together to sabotage the wedding to prevent Lily making the same mistake they made 25 years prior. Ready to laugh? Strap in. This one’s a good’un.
