Abu Dhabi athletes set Guinness World Record remotely

They did more than 12,500 burpees

Six athletes in Abu Dhabi have set a new Guinness World Record remotely.

The group set the new record for the most chest to ground burpees completed in 24 hours.

Serial Guinness World Record-breaker Eva Clarke was among the team alongside fellow UAE reisdents Ivan Camponogara, Daniel Gill, Tereza Petrovicova, Brandon Chin Loy and Ann Erdi.

Two witnesses watched the team as they made their official attempt and surpasses the record in a 24 hour period.

A total of 6,000 burpees were required to break the record but the UAE-based team managed to complete 12,502 during the time period.

The record attempt was complete with the aim of encouraging individuals to stay fit while at home and inspire more people to achieve bigger dreams despite self-isolating and staying at home.

Guinness World Records has recently rolled out remote adjudicating to help keep encouraging people to achieve and break records across the world despite restrictions currently in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“We congratulate the team on their achievement during lockdown,” said Shaddy Gaad, senior marketing manager at Guinness World Record’s MENA Office.

“Like we did, they adapted quickly to our newly launched Remote Adjudication service, where we received their application, adjudicated it online, and presented them with the certificate in a chain video.

“Our job is to inspire and encourage brands and individuals to celebrate their achievements wherever they are.”
