Abu Dhabi venues can now serve shisha again

Shisha had been paused to stop the spread of COVID-19

Licensed venues including bars and lounges in Abu Dhabi may now resume serving shisha.

Serving of shisha had been temporarily stopped in 2020 to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

But the Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has now announced that all licensed restaurants, cafés and facilities in the emirate may now offer shisha while following strict safety guidelines.

Only single-use shisha equipment will be permitted and smoking areas are to be isolated.

All smoking areas will also be subject to regular cleaning to ensure all premises are sanitised.

Social distancing and the wearing of masks is essential where appropriate.

Recently ADDED also announced that workers in restaurants and cafés, supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, fruit and vegetable retailers, mall and commercial centre employees are required to get tested for COVID-19 every two weeks.

The cost of testing is to be covered by all employers.
