You now need a negative COVID test to renew your visa

SEHA has announced new testing requirements

If you’re getting a new UAE residency visa or renewing one, there is some news you need to know.

Starting today (Monday June 7) all visa applicants visiting any of Abu Dhabi’s Disease Prevention & Screening Centres for their medical test will need to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test.

The test must have been taken within 72 hours and be presented on the Al Hosn app.

All applicants must also follow other safety measures such as wearing a mask, while adhering to social distancing guidelines and other precautionary measures.

The announcement comes from the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) as a new measure to help keep residents safe.

If you haven’t had a visa medical test done in the UAE and you’re wondering what the process is like, don’t worry, it’s fast and simple.

The medical test screens for communicable diseases such as hepatitis, HIV, leprosy, syphilis, and tuberculosis. It includes a physical assessment by a doctor, a simple blood test, and a chest x-ray.

The entire process takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. Standard screening costs Dhs250, while fast-track screening costs Dhs350 and VIP screening costs Dhs500.

You can book your medical appointment online or call (800-727-336).

Vaccinations are free to all UAE residents, so once you have your Emirates ID and visa sorted you should book your vaccination appointment, too.

You will need to be vaccinated to attend in-person events across the UAE, including visiting bars. We have the latest here.
