If you consider yourself a movie buff, you’re going to want to get this film fest on your radar.
CineMAS Film Festival 2022 is kicking off this weekend at Manarat Al Saadiyat with loads of global independent cinema to see. It’s the fourth edition of the festival with inspiring films followed by a programme of talks and film dialogues by regional and international speakers from the film community.
The CineMAS Film Festival explores eight different themes and runs from Monday June 6 to Sunday June 12. The festival includes short films by UAE-based artists and feature-length independent movies by global filmmakers.

The themes are: “family matters,” “teens, screens, secrets and lies,” “passage of time,” “earth, moon, mars,” “state of mind and place,” “art, music and counter-culture,” “homage to classic Arab cinema,” and “family archives.” Visiting speakers include Nezar Andary, Jenny Perlin and Omar El Zohairy.
Screenings include Feathers, El Planeta, Space Woman, Bunker, An Evening with Laila, Beirut the Encounter and many more. Check the full roster to catch the films you’re most interested in seeing.
There’s a lot going on at Manarat Al Saadiyat right now. While you’re there, don’t miss out on Zemanna: a multi-room exhibition that explores life in the UAE in the ’90s. There is also a Free photography exhibition at Manarat: Arirang Narsha, which showcases a unique interpretation of traditional Korean dance by photographer Yang Jaemoon.
