Free photography exhibition opens at Manarat: Arirang Narsha

Head over to Manarat Al Saadiyat for your fix of Korean art, dance and culture

If you love photography and Korean culture, you’re going to love this exhibition. The Korean Cultural Centre of the United Arab Emirates has organised a free photography exhibition until Sunday June 19 at Manarat Al Saadiyat.

The exhibition, ‘Arirang Narsha,’ will showcase a unique interpretation of traditional Korean dance by Yang Jaemoon.

The exhibition includes 22 photographs, which are inspired by traditional dance forms.

“I was fascinated by the emotional lingering of the sweeping skirts of dancers and began to capture the fleeting sequences into photograph linearly,” said photographer Yang Jaemoon.

Traditional Korean dances include jinju gyobang gutgeori (four-beat structure with three subdivisions), geommu (a sword dance), cheoyongmu (dance of cheoyong) and a nongak (samulnori or five-person dance)

You can visit the Arirang Narsha exhibit from Wednesday May 25 to Sunday June 19 at Manarat Al Sadiyaat, and from Wednesday June 22 to Sunday July 24 at the Korean Cultural Centre at Yas Creative Hub.

While you’re at Manarat, don’t forget to stop by Zemanna: an exhibition that’s all about the ’90s and UAE history. The decade is seen as the beginning of major change for the country’s population and is characterised by colourful neon-lit dukkan signs.

Tickets are Dhs45 per person. It will be running until Monday June 13, so there will be plenty of time to see it.

Free. Wed May 25 – Sun Jun 19 (Manarat Al Sadiyaat) & Wed Jun 22 – Sun Jul 24 (Korean Cultural Centre, Yas Creative Hub), manaratalsaadiyat.ae (02 657 5800).
