Increased happiness in Abu Dhabi reports 2022 DCD survey

Feeling happy in Abu Dhabi? Notice lots of cheerful people in the capital? That’s because Abu Dhabi is officially a happy place.

Curious about happiness levels in Abu Dhabi? There has been an increase in happiness and satisfaction rates across the emirate. The Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi recently announced that according to a survey, happiness in Abu Dhabi has increased.

The happiness and wellbeing index is a key quality of life indicator, which takes into account life satisfaction and happiness. Happiness in Abu Dhabi has increased on the index by 7.8 percent, for a final score of 7.727 points out of 10.

There have been other increases to happiness in Abu Dhabi and satisfaction across the board. The life satisfaction index has increased by 6.6 percent while the work-life balance index has increased by nearly 16 percent. Other key metrics such as overall residence satisfaction and satisfaction with current housing income both increased as well.

The results come as Abu Dhabi, and the UAE, has transitioned to a new working week and weekend for 2022.

The DCD conducts periodic studies and annual surveys to identify society’s needs and ambitions and to boost development. This growth in happiness indicators reflect the department’s interest in improving the quality of life for the Abu Dhabi community.

It comes as no surprise that the UAE is one of the happiest countries in the world. It ranks highest among Arab countries in the World Happiness Report 2021: a position it has held for the last seven consecutive years.

The UAE has also been ranked as the fourth best place in the world for expats to live and work and ranked at the top for its response to COVID-19.

Dubai was recently ranked the fifth best city in the world in a new report, while Abu Dhabi was voted the third most relaxing city in the world in a Time Out global study.

There are so many reasons to love living here; happiness in Abu Dhabi is at a high.
