Indoor events in Abu Dhabi to operate at 80 percent capacity

You’ll need a green pass on the Al Hosn app and a 96-hour negative PCR test

Wondering what the capacity is for events in Abu Dhabi? The new capacity for indoor and outdoor events in the capital is now 80 percent.

The change was announced by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee in order to enhance precautionary measures to protect public health.

Entry to indoor events requires you to show a green pass and a negative PCR test result received within 96 hours. If you are attending an indoor event you will also need to undertake an EDE scan at public entry points and wear a mask.

For wedding halls, the maximum operating capacity is 60 percent, and the number of guests should not exceed 100 people for indoor halls, 300 for open-air wedding venues, and 60 for weddings hosted at home.

There are new travel restrictions related to COVID-19 as well. Travellers coming from certain African countries will not be accepted for travel into the UAE, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The update comes into effect from November 29 and comes as cases rise globally with concern about a new variant.

The updated coronavirus protocols impact all travellers “originating from, or transiting from” from seven countries in Africa: Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Passengers from these places “will not be accepted for travel” into the United Arab Emirates.

Additionally, UAE residents and citizens flying into the UK will now need to take PCR test on arrival and will be required to self-isolate until the results are provided. The mandate still applies to those who are fully vaccinated.
