mawaqif meter in abu dhabi to pay parking fees

Abu Dhabi’s parking tickets to be paperless

The changes will come into effect on Sunday October 24

If you drive in Abu Dhabi, listen up. The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) is cancelling Mawaqif’s paper violation notices. They will be replaced with electronic fines, sent directly to your phone via SMS.

This news means you will need to ensure you have a working phone number in case of any fines. The changes will come into effect on Sunday (October 24).

Inspectors will issue public parking tickets related to violations in the emirate and send them electronically, the ITC from the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi announced on Tuesday October 19.

E-tickets will now appear via text message, including all necessary details pertaining to the violation. The initiative supports the digital transformation of the ITC services and the expansion of the base of smart services.

The text fines will also encourage drivers to pay their fines on time. If you pay your fines within 30 days of issuance, you can also avail the 25 percent discount on the ticket cost.

This move is in line with Abu Dhabi’s objective to go paperless across various government services.

Abu Dhabi has announced that all government services are going online by the end of 2021. The services will be found on the TAMM app, which will be available on iOS and Android systems.
