Government schools to partner with private institutions for new model of free education

The school model is expected to cater to 14,000 students

A new model for government schools has been announced in UAE under which an advanced curriculum will be implemented and be managed by prestigious private institutions.

Public education in the UAE is free for all Emirati citizens, which means the government will bear the fees and operating expenses for all students studying under this new model for schools.

The model will be implemented starting in the academic year 2022-2023.

Ajyal Schools, as the model is called and translates to Generation Schools, will be set up in partnership with selected private educational institutions.

Taleem, Aldar Education and Bloom Education are among the private entities that will manage government schools, and help implement the advanced curriculum.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai took to Twitter to explain the new system.

His Highness said that the model will target around 14,000 students.

Under the supervision of the Emirates Schools Establishment, the model will apply to all students from grade one to four in 10 schools across the UAE.

Dubai aims to include 28 schools in the model within the next three years.

Subjects in the curriculum will include elements of national importance such as Arabic language, Islamic education, moral education, and social studies, but also those of global importance such as mathematics and science.

According to Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, the model will give Emirati students studying in government schools an “advanced and innovative experience.”
