This part of town is packed densely with sub-continental restaurants, so it’s quite surprising to find this lone representative of Chinese, Filipino and Thai cuisine tucked in between its neighbours. Asian Garden is a plain, unassuming venue with two floors of cafeteria style tables and chairs and not a whole lot else by way of decoration. The menu is very long, and includes an impressive number of classic dishes from all three cuisines – quite a feat considering the kitchen is so small.
Service is fast and uncomplicated and the cheesy pop songs that are generally playing contribute to a casual, easy-going atmosphere. The food itself is just ok – both the Thai and Filipino curries are rich and creamy but other dishes on the menu lean towards the sloppy side. But it’s cheap, filling, inoffensive fare and for the price you could do a lot worse.
