There is little in the way of a restaurant here – Café De Foyer is actually no more than an awkward-shaped slice of lobby filled with wrought iron tables and chairs that look suspiciously like patio furniture. Yet, despite this, it manages to cultivate a bubbling atmosphere, with every chair filled by guests ranging from locals to families to groups of businessmen chatting over coffee. It’s certainly not the food, which is a passable range of sandwiches, cakes and a smattering of hot dishes – no more or less than what you’d expect from a lobby café – or the decor, which is minimal to the point of nonexistent. Most likely it’s the convenient location and the chatty, friendly staff who make it a pleasant place to sit. If you have reason to be there, order the banana bread, which is moist and moreish, and people-watch to your heart’s content.
