From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010
There was a time when Café Firenze might have been considered a cheap eat. Not anymore. As the rents rocket in Khalidaya, the area calls for up-market prices; though, if you keep one eye on your wallet, you can still eat well at Café Firenze and come away relatively unscathed. If the weather is forgiving (or you’re out for the evening), take a table on the veranda, where the view over the park makes for an unusually lush vista. Not that the (rather smoky) interior isn’t without its peculiar charms as shiny trinkets abound – although none of which appear to originate from Florence. The food is excellent, all of it freshly prepared in a ‘homemade’ style, with rough-cut salads, fine, gooey cannelloni and crisp, tasty pizzas making up the bulk of a menu fit for lunch or dinner. Café Firenze is unique enough in its location and quirkiness that it stays continuously busy. It’s a popular choice among locals and expats alike and the sort of place afternoons get lost in.
