Brasserie Flo

Review: Exquisite French dining served with class

Sometimes you are served food that looks and smells so delicious that you don’t even think about taking a picture of it. We know, it’s hard to believe, right? But here we are, filling our faces with superb French fare at Brasserie Flo, while our phones remain firmly in our pockets.

It’s lunchtime and the restaurant is empty, but if anyone out there values what we say, then you’ll pay the Venetian Village venue a visit very soon. Service is top-notch, the cooking is sublime and the venue is smart. Prices are decent, too. Especially if you’re there for the midweek lunchtime deal.

We absolutely recommend the burrata, which is served at the right temperature (so many places serve it fridge-cold), and comes on a delicate dicing of tomato and with some smoky grilled bread. Beef tartare, mixed at the table to your exact liking, is a great partner for it.

Mains continue in the same vein. The meaty flakes of a plump roasted piece of cod fall away under its crisp skin. It sits on a delightful mash, which is surrounded by a light sauce studded with cockles. It’s perfect. Steak frites is on the nose, too. Cooked as requested, tasty and seasoned well. No complaints at all.

This is a seriously good place.

The bottom line

A restaurant you really need to check out.
