Classy And without excessive amounts of gold and sparkly chandeliers, Mijana is relatively understated when compared to the rest of The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi.
The food is reasonably priced, too, and the menu contains all the best Lebanese mezze, mains and grills.
We start off with a selection of classic cold mezze. The hummus is smooth and not too garlicky, while the oriental salad is a strong alternative to our usual favourite of fattoush, and the colourful mixture is the perfect example of how fresh and high-quality ingredients don’t need fuss or fancy additions to taste wonderful. It’s all served with some excellent warm and soft Arabic bread (it is possible to have dry, unpleasant bread, believe us), and it’s a very strong start.
Next is the shish taouk (another favourite of ours). The chicken is tender and beautifully marinated and we love how the spices have soaked into the flatplan it’s served on. Sadly, our other main of grilled salmon fillet doesn’t deliver the same sensational levels of wonderful seasoning, but both are served with vibrant vegetable kebabs. A bowl of vermiceli rice topped with pine nuts finishes things off nicely, too.
Mijana might not be breaking the mould, but it does the classics very well indeed.
