We’ve been fans of this unique restaurant for a while. Now in a new location, we’re pleased to enjoy the same great food, kooky décor and affordable prices in a bigger room.
It might still be small, but you can’t miss the place there are two pandas outside the door, for a start. Once you’re in, a massive cuddly panda takes pride of place in the dining room.
Panda art is on the walls, some of the plates have pandas on them and, well, we imagine you’ve noticed the theme by now.
The food is unpretentious and casual. There’s no elaborate decoration, presentation or undue fuss and we love it.
The menu is quite large, with everything cooked fresh and delivered once its ready. So don’t be surprised to get your appetisers after the main course hits the table.
The pillowy beef bao are a real treat, filled with peppery beef before being seared to crispy perfection.
Also impressive is the chicken and prawn soup bao. The flavour is impressive, though they’re a little on the small side.
We’re particularly happy with the chong qing noodles with warming broth, hearty dose of hand-pulled noodles and spicy minced chicken. We could slurp on it forever.
Panda Bao Bao is unusual, it’s casual and the food is brilliant. We love it.
