This cramped and slightly scruffy restaurant in Madinat Zayed is worth a stop if you’re after cheap and tasty Chinese cuisine. Downstairs is for the takeaway customers, while in the tiny upstairs restaurant a few tables jostle for space. Decor is minimal – there are a smattering of Chinese flourishes and splashes of red, as well as a large painting of the Great Wall that dominates the room. The menu is so extensive that ordering can be a little difficult.
Aside from the meat and seafood dishes, there is a large vegetarian section, as well as classics such as sweet and sour chicken, which is served up hot and crisp, with plenty of tangy sauce. The sizzling duck is likewise well-prepared, packed with earthy mushroom flavours, large slices of soft meat and crisp vegetables in a salty, savoury broth. The one thing noticeably absent is dim sum, but with so many other dishes to choose from there should be something to satisfy all tastes. Take a group of friends and fill your face for a bargain price.
