InterContinental Hotel

From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010

This buffet leans heavily towards salads and desserts, especially fresh fruit, so if that’s your love then this is for you. The cooking station usually features salmon, hammour, chicken and lamb chops, and these can be grilled to order, although usually arrive well-done. The hot buffet dishes are fairly uninspired though, and feature a lot of curries and similar Indian dishes. There is an a la carte menu, but if you order from it then your food will have to be brought from another restaurant in another part of the hotel, with a resulting delay and cool food.

The restaurant itself is well-lit, with lots of windows, although for a sea-front hotel the view is dismal – mainly concrete walls and the distant marina. All the tables surround the central food area so there’s not far to walk but the kitchen is noisy with incessant beeping and crashing. The restaurant was renovated in July 2009 but little has changed. Service is slow and unsure, and at Dhs145 this is not a cheap dinner, which may explain why the only other diners you’ll find here are hotel guests.
