The raw appeal of Japanese cuisine is pretty much universal these days – with a roll call of dining devotees stretching from Tokyo to here in Abu Dhabi.
But while we might think we know all there is to know about sushi, sashimi, maki and the rest, SushiSan is happy to lend a helping hand to those not quite up to speed.
Attentive and friendly staff at the cozy Holiday Inn venue provide a warm welcome when you arrive and the sense of being embraced by another culture extends to the menu, where an extensive terminology of the staple Japanese diet is laid out. It’s a nice touch and we find the knowledge of the variety of dishes on offer translates to the kitchen.
We are impressed by the bright yellow crispy rainbow rolls, a fresh and flavoursome bite packed with lobster, avocado and asparagus and rounded off with a tasty spicy mayo – and all for just Dhs35. We devour them, alongside the Ultimate Dynamite Shrimps, which provide an explosive contrast to our sushi.
A great meal is capped off by a delicious cheesecake, topped with berries. Another winning dish from the kitchen.
This is a dining experience that we are only keen to revisit. Especially at these prices.
