We couldn’t help but be a little bit worried about this Mexican restaurant when we first heard its name. After all, while it might provide a cute opening paragraph if a place called Tumbleweed was actually always empty, we would rather see a newcomer thrive than have a witty aside in our back pocket (honest). Thankfully, such fears are allayed as soon as we walk through the doors of this cool and casual spot, complete with a bar bathed in gold and fun sombrero-shaped table mats.
We are happy to find a decent crowd of diners in the venue, who are helping to create a lively vibe. Staff are warm and welcoming and the menu is packed with plenty of hearty Mexican favourites.
We kick off with some jalepeño poppers, fiery and full of flavour, stuffed with nicely melted cheddar cheese.
Our taste buds well and truly awakened, we tuck into a hearty serving of chicken quesadilla.
The succulent chunks of chicken go down a treat, with the mixed peppers adding a nice layer of spice to proceedings.
Meals here are generously sized, full of taste and are great value. We’re still not sure about the name, though.
The bottom line
Fun, fiery and great value Mexican food.
