How to use the Al Hosn travel pass

Everything you need to know about travelling with the Al Hosn app

The UAE recently announced the easing of COVID-19 related restrictions across the country, including recent changes to travel requirements. If you are looking to travel from the UAE, the Al Hosn travel pass makes travel even easier.

In December 2021, the United Arab Emirates connected to the EU Digital COVID certificate system, making travel from the UAE to the EU easier.

Several destinations have eased travel restrictions for vaccinated travellers, making travel the easiest it has been in two years. In fact there are over 19 easy places to travel to from the UAE right now. The UAE also recently lifted PCR requirements for vaccinated travellers.

There have also been updates to face mask requirements in outdoor spaces across the UAE and there have been changes to where you need to use a green pass in the UAE, too.

What is the Al Hosn travel pass?

The Al Hosn travel pass is an international certificate that proves your COVID-19 vaccination status and COVID-19 test results. It is based on the EU digital COVID Certificate and is compatible with the EU DCC and IATA Travel Pass systems. The Vaccination Pass shows the vaccination certificate of the holder, while the Test Result reveals the COVID-19 test result of the holder. Travellers can add one or both of the passes to their Al Hosn apps before travelling.

Who can use the Al Hosn travel pass?

The vaccination pass in the Al Hosn travel pass is available to UAE citizens and residents who have had at least one vaccine dose in the UAE. Emirati citizens need to be fully vaccinated to travel, including a booster dose. Those who have been vaccinated outside the UAE cannot get the Al Hosn travel pass.

Anyone who has had a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken in the UAE can access the test result certificate on the travel pass. The certificate will expire after 72 hours of the result date.

Can unvaccinated UAE citizens use the Al Hosn travel pass?

According to a new Al Hosn App update, unvaccinated UAE citizens can now attain green status on the Al Hosn travel pass. Emirati citizens who are travelling while unvaccinated, with one dose of the vaccine, or who did not receive the booster dose after six months will need to fill out a travel disclaimer form.

How do you download the Al Hosn travel pass?

Open the Al Hosn app on your smartphone and click “add pass” in your pass list. You then choose the vaccination or travel pass and confirm by clicking “add pass”.

If you have already downloaded the Al Hosn travel pass, you will find the certificates when you open the app and click on your name. Where is the Al Hosn travel pass valid?

The Al Hosn travel pass can be recognised by all IATA travel pass members and all EU DCC member countries, however make sure you check with your airlines and destination country to confirm that they officially accept the Al Hosn travel pass before travelling.
