Akiba Dori opens in Yas Bay Waterfront

The Japanese street food concept is brightening up Yas Island

Akiba Dori is in Abu Dhabi. The colourful Japanese street food spot has opened in happening Yas Bay Waterfront, and it has brought its fun Akihabara neon look and unique Tokyo-style Neapolitan pizzas to the capital.

Akiba Dori in Yas Island opened on Sunday December 12. It won’t be hard to miss the funky space with its neon signs inside and out, which are inspired by the aforementioned buzzing Akihabara district in Japan.

This is the first time that Akiba Dori has a home in Abu Dhabi. The Japanese street food was founded in Dubai in 2018, and it has since become known for its eclectic and playful décor and fusion pizzas. Now dinners in Abu Dhabi can sample the Tokyo-style pizzas, plus, sandos, sushi, curries, gyoza and more.

There are a variety of pizzas to select from including the classic Margherita to zucchini, as well as a pizza of the month. All of the unique pizzas are prepared in a Japanese wood-fire oven, using Japanese dough then topped with Neapolitan ingredients for a true mash-up.

Unique food options include wagyu truffle maki and tuna tacos with cream cheese, sesame oil and chives. Have a sweet tooth? Try to save room for the lotus cheesecake or the matcha molten brownie.

Akiba Dori is all about making Japanese food accessible to all, and something that anyone can enjoy whether they’ve been to Japan or not. (A meal is much cheaper than the cost of a planet ticket.)

Ready to experience Akihabara style in Abu Dhabi? Akiba Dori in Yas Bay Waterfront is open daily from 1pm until late. The location has prime al fresco seating to watch panoramic sunsets as you tuck into a slice of ‘za. Or, dine inside and get ready to ‘gram all of the neon signage.

Opens Sun Dec 12. Daily 1pm-late. Yas Bay Waterfront, Yas Island, yasbay.ae/dine_in/akiba-dori (04 770 7949).
