Safety measures have been updated with the aim of ‘enhancing precautionary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19’.
Effective from August 27, those entering Abu Dhabi will be only granted permission if they meet one of two criteria.
The first scenario requires those visiting to present a negative PCR swab test that’s been taken in the last 48 hours.
Residents can also enter Abu Dhabi if they have a negative DPI laser test result and have a negative PCR swab test from the past six days.
The change means that those previously entering Abu Dhabi showing a negative DPI laser test now also must also have had a PCR swab test within the past six days to be granted entry.
Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee stated that the same kind of test cannot be taken twice in a row within six days.
Those participating in the COVID-19 vaccine trial are exempt from the new regulations.
Abu Dhabi has had entry restrictions at the border in place since June 2.
