Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways updates passenger requirements for travel in and out of the UAE

Here’s what you need to know

As the UAE continues to fight to keep residents safe from COVID-19, safety procedures are regularly updated.

Last week, The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority announced that all residents and tourists travelling to the UAE  now require a negative COVID-19 test before departure.

Updating travel requirements for residents and tourists, Etihad Airways has updated the procedures for all passengers travelling in and out of Abu Dhabi International Airport.

From August 1, all travellers arriving in Abu Dhabi or stopping in the city to transfer to a final destination will be required to show evidence of a negative COVID-19 test.

Only test results from an approved testing facility will be accepted, the list of approved centres can be found by visiting screening.purehealth.ae or www.etihad.com/destinationguide.

If Abu Dhabi is your final destination, residents require ICA approval before departing to the UAE. To apply for ICA approval visit beta.smartservices.ica.gov.ae.

Children under the age of 12 and people of determination are not required to undergo testing for COVID-19.

Travellers flying from Abu Dhabi to the European Union or United Kingdom must also show a negative COVID-19 test before departing the UAE.

Those without a negative test result will not be permitted to travel to Europe or the UK.

Etihad is collaborating with Mediclinic to offer home testing services for those planning to travel.
