The best part is it’s absolutely free to roll out your towel, grab a book, and even build sandcastles together – if that’s your vibe. Go to the beachside zone Al Bahar on the Corniche to see all the activities you two can do without spending a dirham.

Go for afternoon tea at Lobby Lounge

Want to celebrate Valentine’s Day at a hotel, but don’t want to break the bank? Afternoon tea is the perfect low-key date for February 14, and beyond. For all of February, Lobby Lounge at Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, is serving a Valentine’s Day-themed tea from 2pm to 6pm daily. There are red and pink savouries and pastries presented in a heart shape. Two hours of bubbly can be added for an extra Dhs85 per person.

Have a chocolate date at Chai Lobby Lounge

There’s a reason why chocolate is tradition on Valentine’s Day. Chai Lobby Lounge is serving up special chocolate treats, with pastries starting at Dhs25, homemade chocolate bars from Dhs20, and cakes from Dhs90. You can even personalise them. The cakes are available from Tuesday February 1 to Monday February 28 between 7am and 8pm. Dig in.

J.Lo is at it again with a rom-com we can’t miss this Valentine’s Day. Head to the movies from Thursday February 10 and you can watch Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson and Utkarsh Ambudkar star in what looks like a fun rom-com. Music superstars Kat Valdez and Bastian are getting married, but when Kat learns that Bastian has been unfaithful, she decides to marry Charlie, a stranger, instead. Sounds like just the movie for a V-day date.
