The UAE is gradually lifting COVID-19 restrictions on all activities and events, and has the goal “aimed at reaching their full capacities by mid-February”.
The easing of COVID-19 restrictions covers “all activities and events in the UAE” including tourism, entertainment facilities, shopping malls, modes of transport, and more.
This also includes raising the maximum capacities for social events, like weddings and funerals. Wondering what event capacity limits are for Abu Dhabi or Dubai? The capacity percentages “will be determined by local committees in each emirate”.
In mosques and places of worship, the safe distance will be reduced to one metre “while the pandemic will be monitored and precautionary measures will be adjusted accordingly”.
The Al Hosn app green pass must still be used as part of the new COVID-19 restrictions. Emergency, crisis and disasters management authorities in each of the emirates will be responsible for “determining the capacity” in each emirate, as well as easing or restricting procedures depending on the COVID situation.
The National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) shared the news about easing COVID-19 restrictions on Wednesday February 9.
Having a high vaccination rate, a commitment to the implementation of precautionary and preventive measures, and low hospitalisations contributed to the easing of restrictions.
The COVID-19 update comes as children aged five to 11 are now able to book Pfizer vaccines in the UAE. The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has made the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine available for the age group, after it was approved for use in November 2021.

The UAE coronavirus pandemic situation will continue to be monitored with procedures and protocols updated accordingly.
NCEMA encourages people to continue to follow precautionary measures, including wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing, avoiding crowded places and to use the green pass system, as previously mentioned.
The authorities will “continue monitoring adherence to the precautionary measures and take legal action against violators”.
