Taj Mahal for India travel update

India resumes international flights for the first time in nearly two years

Air bubbles with the UAE, KSA and Oman are ending

Looking to travel to India? The country is lifting its ban on international flights for the first time in almost two years, making international travel easier.

According to India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation, from Sunday March 27 international flights will be able to fly to and from the country.

Before the India travel update, only destinations with air bubble agreements were able to fly to and from India during the pandemic. Flights between the UAE and India were already operational because of an air bubble agreement.

If you are planning a trip to India there are COVID-19-related measures and restrictions you will need to follow, aside from the latest India travel update.

Before departure you will need to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result for a test taken within 72 hours before travel. Vaccinated travellers from specified countries (including India) do not need a negative PCR test. However, if you have been vaccinated in the UAE you need a negative test result regardless of your vaccination status.

On arrival, passengers are subject to random testing and will need to pay the appropriate fees for those tests. Travellers selected for testing will submit the samples and can then leave the airport. Passengers who test positive for COVID-19 will be treated according to the most up to date guidelines. Children below five years old are exempt from pre-departure and on-arrival testing.

The UAE has recently updated requirements for travellers. PCR tests for those entering the United Arab Emirates are no longer required. You will need to show an approved COVID-19 vaccination certificate that contains a QR code. You will not need to take a PCR test on arrival, although the tests will be available at the airport for those who wish to do one.
