Which Abu Dhabi malls have reopened?

Malls in Abu Dhabi are gradually reopening this month with reduced hours and special safety measures set by the Department of Economic Development.

Like other public spaces and attractions across the capital, malls were temporarily shut to avoid the spread of COVID-19 back in March whilst we all self-isolated at home. However last week, a series of guidelines were issued by the government to malls and shopping destinations in the city, allowing them to reopen once they’ve met a stringent health and safety standards

Since then, a number of malls in the capital have successfully met the criteria and reopened, with maximum capacity of 30 percent, the installation of thermal inspection devices, separate entrances and exits as well as other safety measures.

Yas Mall and Al Maryiah Island’s The Galleria both reopened its doors to the public on Sunday May 2, while Abu Dhabi Marina Mall will open today (May 3).

The malls have all implemented the compulsory precautionary measures set by the Department of Economic Development meaning all staff have been tested for COVID-19 and must wear masks and gloves at all time, while each mall will carry out daily disinfection programmes.

In addition, all shoppers are only permitted to visit for a maximum of two hours, must abide by social distancing rules, wear protective masks and are advised to use contactless payment where possible and bring reusable bags.
