As airlines such as Etihad and Emirates begin to resume their flight schedules following a global travel ban due to the coronavirus pandemic, Abu Dhabi airport has announced a new set of rules for new arrivals and departures from the city.
Passengers travelling through Abu Dhabi Airport will now have to follow new health and safety procedures as part of the capital’s preventative measures against the spread of COVID-19.

The new airport security measures include passing through state-of-the-art SterixGates and undergoing various forms of thermal screening and testing.
The Abu Dhabi media office also revealed in a series of tweets that depending on the destination to which the passenger is travelling, they may be directed to Abu Dhabi airport’s Terminal 1, where a COVID-19 rapid antibody test will be conducted by a qualified health professional.
Similarly, those arriving at Abu Dhabi International Airport will undergo a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test for COVID-19, and will be required to self-isolate for 14 days and follow all Department of Health guidelines in regard to the novel coronavirus.
