Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways to cover COVID-19 test costs until end of 2020

The airline will provide a PCR test for travellers

Etihad Airways has announced that customers travelling from Abu Dhabi International Airport will receive a PCR test included with their ticket.

The offer to provide a test comes with all tickets except those travelling to China who must visit a government testing centre run by SEHA before departing.

In a partnership with Life Medical Diagnostic Centre, a test will be provided 48 to 96 hours to departure from the UAE.

First and Business Class passengers can also have the tests done at their home instead of visiting a medical centre.

The airline also recently announced COVID-19 insurance cover for all passengers until the end of the year.

“This is a significant development which allows Etihad to provide greater ease of travel for those departing from Abu Dhabi, by removing as much inconvenience from the PCR testing process as possible,” said Dr Nadia Bastaki, Etihad Aviation Group vice president of medical services.

“This follows on perfectly from the recent introduction of complimentary COVID-19 insurance cover on all Etihad Airways tickets.”

A negative COVID-19 test is required for arriving in Abu Dhabi and many other countries around the world.

All those arriving in the UAE internationally are required to have a negative COVID-19 test before arrival, on arrival and quarantine for 14 days while wearing and electronic bracelet.
