Completion dates for Midfield Terminal, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and more

There’s always something exciting going on in Abu Dhabi and development of the city never stops.

In October, Abu Dhabi was named as one of the top financial cities in the Middle East and has previously been named the ‘smartest city’ in the region and the safest city in the world on four occasions.

Looking to develop and establish the UAE capital as a leading destination for tourism and business in the decades to come, Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 has outlined plans to transform the economy.

Plans including developing the business environment, improving infrastructure, attracting and developing talent and more.

In the coming years, a number of exciting projects that will help develop the emirate are set to upgrade the city and improve the quality of life.

Among the biggest projects are Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Midfield Terminal, Reem Mall and Abu Dhabi’s Metro System and Light Rail.

As part of HSBC’s Future Cities report, a number of these projects were given tentative completion dates.

According to the report, the 50,000 square foot Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is set to be completed in 2022 on Saadiyat Island as part of the Cultural District.

Aiming to welcome up to 30 million passengers a year, Abu Dhabi’s new Midfield Terminal will be completed in 2021, the HBSC report states.

Looking ahead, Abu Dhabi’s Metro Project is stated to finish construction by 2030. The 131 km-long, four-line metro project includes two light rail lines and one bus rapid transit loop linking the city centre with Saadiyat Island, Reem Island and the Marina.

The report also states Reem Mall will be completed in 2020.
