New UAE Eid Al Fitr COVID-19 protocols announced

How to stay safe during your Eid celebrations

Ready to celebrate Eid Al Fitr in Abu Dhabi? New UAE Eid Al Fitr COVID-19 protocols were announced to help ensure a safe celebration and public holiday.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has just announced new COVID-19 protocols for Eid. The new UAE Eid COVID protocol stipulates regulations for mosques, protocols for prayers and ways to stay safe during Eid celebrations.

The new UAE Eid Al Fitr COVID-19 protocols stipulate that the duration of prayers and khutba must not be longer than 20 minutes. Worshipers will be supervised by police, volunteers and imams to prevent crowds.

The gates of mosques will be open after dawn prayer on the day of Eid for Eid prayer, as long as the mosque’s outdoor speakers can broadcast the Eid tabkeers half an hour before prayer.

The UAE’s COVID-19 protocols for Eid also state that mosques must display physical distancing stickers and allow worshipers to pray from nearby parking lots and parks.

To stay safe and abide by UAE Eid Al Fitr COVID-19 protocols, worshipers must use disposable prayer mats, wear face masks at all times and physically distance by one metre. You should also avoid gathering and shaking hands after prayers.

To attend Eid celebrations safely, make sure everyone has green pass status on the Al Hosn app, limit celebrations to immediate family members and try to use electronic alternatives to Eid presents.

There has been a recent update to the Al Hosn green pass just in time for Eid Al Fitr. From Friday April 29, a negative PCR test on the app will get you green status for 30 days. Additionally, a 100 percent operating capacity is returning to tourist attractions and events and commercial activities in Abu Dhabi. To maintain green status, users will still need a negative PCR test result received at least every 30 days

There are loads of great ways to celebrate Eid Al Fitr in Abu Dhabi. The Eid Al Fitr private sector holiday dates were announced earlier this week. Additionally, Abu Dhabi private and public school Eid holiday dates were revealed. It seems the whole city has been planning their Eid holidays.
