Three Abu Dhabi bars where you can have a drink and play pool

Try these Time Out-recommended venues

There’s nothing quite like enjoying a cool drink and playing a game of pool. That is until you start playing and your opponent wipes the floor with you.

Competitive? Us? No, not all…

If you want to head out and enjoy a quiet drink and get a cue in hand then there are no shortage of top sports bars to make a beeline to in this city.

Just remember to watch out for the sharks. No, not the ocean dwelling ones, you know what, never mind, have fun.

Here are three Abu Dhabi bars where you can have a drink and play pool.

Easy Tiger

In Abu Dhabi there are all kinds of venues to visit for a quiet drink or for a night out. The ‘dress up in your best clothes and enjoy mixed drinks to jazz music’ kind and the ‘shorts and flip flops with a pocket full of dirham coins to play pool’ kind. Plus a whole lot in between. Easy Tiger is definitely the latter but you can put on your glad rags if you really want to. The décor is stripped back, with an industrial feel to it. The pool table is inviting and if you fancy a quick game with a friend this is a good place to make tracks to. Plus, there’s always a decent deal when it comes to drinks here and that’s never a bad thing.

Harvesters

We have a soft spot for pubs and bars with a little bit of character. We’re not talking about elaborate themes, we’re on about venues that are a little worn around the edges. They’ve stayed the same for years and see a steady stream of people flow in through the doors night after night having stood the test of time. And in all the years we’ve been visiting Harvesters it has hardly changed a bit. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it – as the saying goes. In the corner as you arrive there’s a pool table that’s waiting to be set up and many games have been decided here over a drink over the years.

Offside Sports Lounge

Some of the best hotels in the city are on Saadiyat Island, the beaches are pristine and the general vibe is one of relaxing and having a good time… All things we can get on board with. With football season in full swing, with plenty of fixtures every weekend, and the Six Nations and more sport about to hit our screens, the search for a good sports bar to take it all in is near the top of our list. Tucked away at the side of Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island, Offside has typical sporting memorabilia on the walls, including some Andy Warhol-style skateboards, and screens, lots of screens, which is handy when you want to watch a match. If you’re ready to play there’s some good news as there’s a good table in the venue and you usually don’t have to wait too long to get a game. While you wait you can tuck into some great bar bites or check out what’s on offer with the happy hour deals.
