Dubai Metro will run for 24 hours on March 31 for Expo 2020 Dubai

It will serve the final rush of Expo 2020 visitors

It’s been announced that the Dubai Metro will run for 24-hours on Thursday 31 March, to service the final day of Expo 2020.

With the closing ceremony open to the public (on a first-come, first-serve basis) the Dubai Metro will serve those making their way to and from the grounds.

As anticipated, the final day of Expo 2020 is expected to draw a sizeable crowd, visitors have been advised to arrive early via a promo email that read, “Come early! Take the metro (it will run 24 hours), public transport or make the most of the Park & Ride service from the Jebel Ali Metro Station.”

The email goes on to say that although “event venues will have limited capacity…the performances will also be live-streamed on giant screens across the Expo site.” The Expo 2020 closing events and fireworks will also be streamed on Expo TV (the official live YouTube channel) if you want to avoid the crowds.

Those who are ready and waiting by 6pm, will be treated to an hour-long orchestral pre-show that showcases music from across the world.

At 7pm the main closing ceremony will start in the Al Wasl dome with over 400 performers telling a story of the UAE’s next 50 years.

The concerts will start at 8pm with Yo-Yo Ma in the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre, Norah Jones on the Jubilee Stage at 8.30pm, followed by headliner Christina Aguilera at 10pm. Trance-dance music DJ Tiesto will finish the evening on the Jubilee Stage at 11.45pm with a huge fireworks display accompanying his dance beats.

The park will remain open until 3am on Friday April 1.
