Thursday: Feast on lobster at Grills@Chill’O
Celebrating one of the world’s most popular seafood favourites, Grills@Chill’O has introduced a special menu for a limited time only. On offer until the end of March, guests can tuck into fresh Boston lobster in several styles. Thursday: Enjoy a gents’ night at Hakkasan Abu Dhabi
Hakkasan Abu Dhabi is bringing back its popular gents’ night. From Thursday January 7, men can visit the stylish Chinese restaurant at Emirates Palace to enjoy a few drinks and a bite to eat. For Dhs288 per person, gents can enjoy a welcome drinks as well as two premium Scottish beverages and a Cuban roll. Plus, gents can also check out a dedicated display by Bespoke Italia featuring a display of fabrics and bespoke menswear from the tailoring company. Not to mention taking your place on the beautiful terrace with amazing views out towards Abu Dhabi Corniche. So if you and the lads are looking for a sophisticated evening this could be the perfect fit.

Friday: Go flamingo spotting
Al Wathba Wetland Reserve will remain open to the public until April 30, 2021. The free-to-visit attraction will open from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 8am to 6pm. A number of safety measures are in place to protect visitors including the wearing of masks, strict social distancing and all visitors must show a negative COVID-19 test result from the past month. Children under the age of 12 are exempt from having to show a test result. The area is an ideal habitat for as many as 260 species of migratory birds including the greater flamingo as well as 260 invertebrates, 11 mammals, ten reptiles and 35 plant species. Friday: See the UAE’s newest art exhibit come to life
Kinetic art piece The Seed has opened to the public until January 30 at Jubail Island. You can see the artwork up close, with daily events showcasing the piece that features the evolution of a seed to a shoot to a flower and on to propagation. Located at a new beach area on Jubail Island, tickets are available for the show for Dhs30 per person and Dhs15 for children from seven to 17. During the light shows, set among Jubail Island’s mangroves, you will experience a blend of music, light and art at sunset. For more information and to book tickets visit uaenationalday.ae.  

Friday: Tuck into the new menu at Cooper’s
Cooper’s Bar and Restaurant has launched a new menu filled with familiar favourites and a new section of vegan dishes for those embarking on Veganuary this month. New to the menu in January are exciting sounding dishes including a taco bridge featuring battered fried fish with Asian slaw or crushed avocado, mango salsa and lime aioli, fish and chips, steak and hops pie, a new burger and a steak sandwich. Heading along with pals? You can now opt for a pick and share section so you can bid farewell to food envy and dig into a range of dishes. Going plant-based for the month or dedicated vegan? On the new vegan-friendly menu you try a vegan burger, pasta, sausage, wrap and falafel sliders. Peckish? We are.

Saturday: Visit the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival
Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival in Abu Dhabi is taking place until Febuary 20, 2021 in Al Wathba. Named in honour of the UAE’s founding father, the annual festival celebrates the UAE’s culture, traditions and heritage. Visitors can experience Emirati culture through art, crafts, food and performances throughout the festival. Performances, workshops, events and markets will also be held for visitors, as well as falconry displays, camel races and fireworks. On New Year’s Eve, the festival successfully set two new Guinness World Records for its impressive fireworks display. In addition, the grand pavilions offer live displays of Emirati traditions and showcase landmarks, taking visitors on a voyage back in time to the history of the UAE.

Saturday: Enjoy Superhero Saturdays at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi
Taking place every Saturday until February 27, families and superhero fans alike can unleash their inner superhero and meet their favourite DC characters including Batman, Cyborg, Green Lantern, Superman, The Flash and Wonder Woman. The weekly event will also see the launch of a brand-new show: DC Super Heroes in Training 2.0. The show will feature special appearances from Green Lantern, The Flash and Wonder Woman, as they lead the mini superheroes through a series of strength, speed, and agility exercises. A day of fun-packed superhero fun awaits.

Saturday: See the return of Fight Island
The UFC is back in town with three events starting on Saturday January 16. On the Fight Night you can see Calvin Kattar face Max Holloway in the main event as well as fights between Carlos Condit against Matt Brown and Santiago Ponzinibbio versus Li Jingliang. Strict safety procedures are in place and all attendees need to produce a negative COVID-19 test from the past 48 hours to be permitted entry.
